Candle Care
A little attention goes a long way. Follow these tips to get the most out of every Moodcraft candle — and give the vessel a second life when you're done.
The First Burn
The first burn is the most important. Let your candle burn long enough for the melt pool to reach the edges before extinguishing — usually around 2 to 3 hours. This helps prevent tunneling, where the wax burns straight down the middle and leaves wax along the sides.
Every Burn After That
-
Trim your wick to about ¼ inch before each burn. A long wick can create a larger flame, excess soot, and can shorten the life of your candle.
- Burn no longer than 4 hours at a time. Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting.
- Keep away from drafts — fans, open windows, and vents can cause uneven burning and flickering.
- Stop burning when about ¼ inch of wax remains at the bottom. Burning beyond this point may cause the vessel to overheat.
Candle Safety
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Burn on a stable, heat-safe surface away from flammable objects.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Clean Out Your Vessel
Moodcraft candles come in thick glass jars and candle tins — both made to be reused. Here's how to clean them out:
- Allow the candle to cool completely.
- Place the vessel in the freezer for a few hours until the remaining wax hardens.
- Gently remove leftover wax with a spoon or butter knife.
- Wipe out residue and wash with warm soapy water.
For stubborn residue, use a small amount of rubbing alcohol or adhesive remover on a cloth.
Do not pour wax down sinks or drains.
Hand washing is recommended for black candle tins to help preserve the finish.
Reuse your vessel as a planter, brush holder, pantry canister — or recycle it when you're finished.
